Greencastle golf takes on Braves

Coaches are often looking for consistency from their teams and Greencastle's girls' golf squad is no different.

However, Tiger Cub head coach Bob Hedge said that he would like to see one change in the coming weeks.

"I'm ready to get off of the score of 209," Hedge said. "I want to go lower, though, not higher."

Stuck on the same stroke for the last three dual matches, Greencastle could not hang with Terre Haute South on Wednesday, falling 178-209 at Rea Park.

Lauren Bridgewater shot 47 to lead the Tiger Cubs, followed by a trio of 54s from Lokysa Scheuermann, Macey Masten and Haley Cash.

Lindsey Bridgewater was just behind the first four with a 55 while Alex Weliever delivered a 61, Alexa Newlin shot 63 and Gabby Selvia carded a 65.

The squad had an up-and-down day, according to Hedge.

"Haley Cash played well," Hedge said. "She took nine strokes off her score from last week when we were here.

"Lauren and Lindsey played about even compared to last week. Lokysa and Macey had a rough day with some shots out-of-bounds and underneath trees."

Ali Danielson shot a +1 round of 37 for Terre Haute South to take medalist honors. Alexandria Maris carded a 44, followed closely by Taylor Baugh's round of 45.

Madison Gruenert completed the scoring for the Braves with a 52-stroke effort. Taylor Pepperworth shot 56, Paige Ennen recorded a 59 and Roarke Matchell shot a 64 for the Braves.

Having played at Rea Park a week prior, Hedge said the squad had a better short game on Thursday but struggled to reach the greens at times.

"Overall, our putting was better today," Hedge noted. "We've been struggling a little bit with that part of the game so that was a good sign.

"We didn't strike the ball as well today and we got in trouble a little bit. We couldn't match the first round from last week, which was a little bit disappointing."
