Greencastle High School senior Callan Taylor signed her letter of commitment on Tuesday to play basketball and attend St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Terre Haute.

Taylor, who will graduate from Greencastle High School in the spring, is an honor roll student and member of the National Technical Honor Society.

She is an active member of several clubs at GHS, including the Latin Club, GOAT Club, and Key Club.

Taylor is excited about joining coach Deanna Bradley and the Pomeroys of SMWC next fall to begin her collegiate career.

"I knew right away that SMWC was a perfect fit for me," Taylor said. "I love how beautiful the campus is and the small class sizes. The basketball team seems like a family, but will also challenge me as a student-athlete. I can't wait to become a Pomeroy."

According to her high school coach Brad Key, the Pomeroys are getting an excellent addition.

"Callan has been a coach's dream the last three years," Key said. "She is your typical gym rat who continues to push herself to get better. She has proven herself as a leader of our program and as someone the younger girls look up to. As a program, we could not be happier for Callan's decision to play at the next level; we know she will do a great job."

Taylor has earned WCC All-Conference honors on two occasions (2013 and 2014) and was named to the all-county first team in 2014. In 2013, she helped Greencastle take home a sectional championship and the Putnam County Championship.

Taylor has also served as team captain for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

SMWC coach Bradley is ready to see what contributions Taylor will make to the Pomeroy program.

"We are thrilled to have Callan join the Pomeroy basketball team," Bradley said. "She is going to be a great fit as a person and great player. She is a holistic talent, fundamentally sound, reads the court well, quick and truly fits perfectly for what we are doing.

"She can do all the things we need done from the guard position and then some. She is also an excellent student, and she is going to be an amazing fit for SMWC both as a student-athlete and as a person."

Taylor is the daughter of Daryl and Lisa Taylor. She has two sisters, Ashton and Emma.

She plans to major in education at SMWC next fall.
