Clovers girls' golf beats Athenians

Friday, August 22, 2014

CLOVERDALE--The Cloverdale Girls' golf team hosted the Crawfordsville Athenians Tuesday night and won by five strokes, 215-220.

"After speaking with their coach we figured this would be a very tight match," Coach Matthew Langdon said, "Girls at each position had shot similar scores all year. In this type of match it becomes whether you can beat the girl you are playing with."

Clovers' Harlee Fuetter brought home the medalist award with a score of 46. Right behind her on the Clovers was Anna Spencer scoring a 53.

Finishing second on the night was Athenians' Regina Go with a 50. Olivia Grady had a 52.

The Clovers only lost two matchups and only by a combined total of three strokes.

"We won three out of the five matchups," Langdon said, "This was a good meet to gauge where we are at early in the season. I am happy with the progress the girls are making."
