Young Eagles Week

Greencastle Mayor Sue Murray, surrounded by members of Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 1374 of Putnam County, signs a proclamation declaring Sept. 1-7 as Young Eagles Week locally. The local EAA Chapter will be active during the Sept. 6-7 Airport Appreciation Days at the Putnam County Airport, providing youngsters 8-17 with a "meaningful flight experience" free of charge. Since 1992 more than 1.8 million Young Eagles have enjoyed such a flight through the EAA network of volunteer pilots, including more than 1,700 in Putnam County, thanks to such local aviators as (standing, from left) Vernon Bothwell Jr., James Spore, Jack Sutton, J.R.
