CLOVERDALE --At 6:50 a.m. Monday, an abandoned modular home caught fire under suspicious circumstances for the second time in as many years.

"There was a fire there about a year ago that was suspicious as well," said Fire Chief Kerry Shepherd.

The Cloverdale Township Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call at 359 Gentleman's Ln. to find a modular home that had been ignited from the center of the structure.

The home was vacant during each of the two fires over the last two years.

With the lawn being mowed at the residence, CTVFD is still investigating who the current owner of the residence may be as it could be private property or perhaps property of a bank or financial institution.

The previous fire burned a mini-barn and a porch area but did not cause damage to the main domicile. The fire on Labor Day was more destructive but equally suspicious.

No injuries were reported and the residence is being viewed as a near total loss for the owner.

The fire department is currently investigating what might have started the fire.
