Fillmore railroad crossing to close for construction

Tuesday, September 2, 2014

FILLMORE -- The railroad crossing north of Fillmore will remain closed for more than a week as crews from CSX work on the area.

The crossing of County Road 550 East (Main Street) in Marion Township closed on Tuesday afternoon and will be reopened before Saturday, Sept. 13.

The crossing is closed to all traffic, so motorists should plan to find another route.

For northbound and eastbound traffic, the Putnam County Highway Department recommends turning west on County Road 100 North (Cemetery Road) from Main Street.

From 100 North, turn north onto County Road 750 East, and follow the road until it crosses the railroad tracks and intersects with County Road 250 North. On 250 North, motorists may either proceed west back to County Road 550 East or east to go north on County Road 775 East.

Westbound and southbound traffic should follow the same pattern in reverse: East on County Road 150/200/250 North and turn south on County Road 750 East, then west on County Road 100 North, back to Main Street in Fillmore.
