Ellen B. Renihan, 72, of Greencastle, passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014.

She was born Nov. 4, 1941 in Indianapolis, the daughter of the late Walter X. and Rosa "Nelly" (Craft) Braun.

She married Daniel Lee Renihan on Jan. 24, 1959, and he preceded her in death.

In May 2013, Ellen retired from DePauw University where she had worked in the Memorial Student Union (the Hub) for more than 20 years.

Prior to that she worked as a cook at the daycare center at NASA in Huntsville, Ala., as a cook at Merchants National Bank in Greencastle and ran her own beauty shop in Indianapolis.

Ellen was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Greencastle.

She loved to play Yahtzee, Scrabble and Candy Crush, and nothing made her happier than to have a home full of people to cook for.

Survivors include her children, Debra Crowe and husband Gary, Brazil, Lance Renihan and wife Michelle, Indianapolis, Chris Renihan and wife Margi, New Providence, Iowa, and Kim Shrum and husband Roger, Cloverdale; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and her only living sibling, sister Gladys Newhouse.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel P. Renihan.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5 at Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4.
