Two property-damage accidents were investigated Wednesday by Greencastle City Police officers.

-- At 11:08 a.m., a two-vehicle mishap was reported at Veterans Memorial Highway and South Jackson Street.

Shane Crabtree, 30, Crawfordsville, was stopped westbound on Veterans Highway, driving a 2013 Ford truck for TAFS Cartage, Indianapolis, when he saw a large wrecker towing an oversized vehicle was attempting to turn eastbound and thought it was going to strike his truck.

Crabtree backed his truck, Officer Albert Epple reported, but did not see a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, driven by Kenneth Kallner, 65, Greencastle, had pulled up behind him and Crabtree backed into the Jeep.

Kallner said he realized what was happening and tried to back up but the presence of a third vehicle behind him in the line of traffic prevented him from getting enough out of the way to avoid a collision.

Total damage was listed at $1,000-$2,500.

-- At 3:14 p.m., a three-vehicle accident was reported on Fillmore Road, 3,000 feet north of State Road 240.

Officer Epple reported that Carrie Overshiner, 39, Greencastle, was southbound on Fillmore Road, driving a 2007 Pontiac G6, when she did not realize that traffic in front of her was slowing.

Her Pontiac struck the rear of a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by Gary Huether, 72, Fillmore, pushing it into the rear of a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Dawn Fox, 42, Greencastle.
