Roachdale council presents its first reading of budget

Thursday, September 18, 2014

At its September meeting, the town of Roachdale presented its first reading of the 2015 budget. The second reading will take place during October's monthly meeting and if no objections arise by that time, the budget will be approved.

Property cleanups continued to be addressed by the board for several locations.

The property at 102 W. Railroad St. was given a second ordinance violation ticket and allowed two weeks to clean up the property or the property will go up for bid.

The board approved an authorization to advertise and accept bids for demolition and subsequent cleanup of the property at 208 N. West St.

The registered owners of the property at 9 W. Washington St. have been sent a letter from the town that the property is in violation of town ordinance and needs to be cleaned up.

Joe Buser, of the Roachdale Revitalization Cooperative Alliance, spoke to the board about applying for a grant through the Putnam County Foundation Foundation that would help provide money for historical properties located in Roachdale.

The Park Advisory Board discussed the need to remove existing, old concrete at the park so that it can pour new concrete for the covered area at the Roachdale Park but, the equipment owned by the town is too large to effectively remove the concrete without damaging the roof.

The town of Roachdale holds its monthly meetings at the Roachdale Town Hall on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. and are open to the public.

The next town meeting will be held Oct. 14.
