United Way kickoff slated at Myers' anniversary barbecue

The United Way of Putnam County will kick off its 2014-15 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 27 in partnership with Myers' Market's first anniversary Barbecue Fest.

Myers' Market, 302 E. Washington St., Greencastle, is helping kick off the annual United We Dine event by donating a portion of its proceeds for the day. United We Dine will continue throughout the month of October with area restaurants designating a portion of a selected day's participation. Restaurants that would like to participate to support United Way and the Putnam County community may contact the local United Way office at 653-5638.

The kickoff will be from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. with cotton candy, popcorn, pumpkin decorating, a photo booth, a WGRE live radio broadcast, followed by Anderson Entertainment, a scavenger hunt with prizes at 1 p.m. and a sports challenge activity center.

Myers' Market also will be serving breakfast, a barbecue lunch and dinner that day.

The public is invited to stop by and learn more about United Way, its community partners and campaign goals for this year.
