Fillmore chicken sign returned

FILLMORE -- The case of the missing chicken has been solved, partially at least.

Fillmore Town Marshal Darrel Bunten reported that the 55th Annual Fillmore Chicken Barbecue sign, which was stolen on Friday, Sept. 12 from the Crown Industires lawn has been returned.

"Someone returned our sign minus the post," Bunten said. "It was found around 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning leaning against the stop sign at the intersection of County Road 50 South and Fillmore Road."

Bunten noted that the fire department chose to not put the sign back up, but rather use it at the entrance to the barbecue, which was reported as a huge success on Saturday afternoon.
