Robert W. 'Bob' Thompson

Robert W. "Bob" Thompson, 81, New Port Richey, Fla., and formerly of Greencastle and Roachdale, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014.

Bob was born on Aug. 28, 1933 to Sherman Thompson and Mildred Bridwell Thompson. He graduated from Roachdale High school in the class of 1952.

He was a United States Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War.

Bob retired from IBM in 1987. Finding retirement was not for him, he went back to work for A.A. Huber and Sons until 2002.

Bob was a 50-year member of the Roachdale Masonic Lodge. He also was a Scottish Rite member.

He is survived by his wife, Lori Patton Thompson; brother Darrell (Dodie) Thompson of Roachdale; sisters Sharon Rathjen of Missouri City, Texas, and Connie Inman of Ladoga; stepson Brandon (Katie) Bennett of Greencastle; grandson Jimmy Bennett of Greencastle; sister-in-law Pam (David) Sutherlin of Cloverdale; brother-in-law Bob (Anita) Patton of Winchester, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Ronald Rathjen and foster brothers Phil and Roger Clark.
