The GHS Athletic Department introduces Coach Charlie Pingleton to lead the GHS wrestling program beginning with this 2014-15 season.

Coach Pingleton is certainly no stranger to the Greencastle community, graduating from GHS in 2004. He is also well known for his accomplishments on the wrestling mat as he went 167-9 for GHS and finished as the IHSAA state runner-up in both 2003 and 2004, under Coach Russ Hesler.

Upon graduation, Pingleton attended and excelled in wrestling for the University of Indianapolis before transferring to Lindsey-Wilson College in Columbia, Ky.

While at Lindsey, Pingleton earned NAIA All-American honors and won a national championship in March 2012.

"It has been a life-long dream of mine to become the head wrestling coach for the Tiger Cubs," Pingleton said. "I cannot wait to get in the wrestling room with our athletes to develop their skills as a wrestler and as men of character. I want them to realize that hard work and commitment pays off."

Athletic Director Greg Hill said it was his prowess showed on the wrestilng mat as well as his understanding of the Greencastle community that has the school thrilled to have Pingleton as a coach.

"Coach Pingleton is a known quantity is this community. His success in high school and as a collegiate wrestler and coach will bring a competitive perspective to our program. We are excited to have Charlie back home at Greencastle High School."

Pingleton is having a team meeting this Thursday for athletes interested in wrestling who are not involved with a fall sport.

The team meeting will be held in the McAnally wrestling room at 3:45 p.m.
