Friday, October 3, 2014

DePauw renews a tradition that dates back to 1907 as it celebrates Old Gold Day this Saturday and the Tigers host Denison in a North Coast Athletic Conference battle. Kickoff on Mourouzis Field at Blackstock Stadium is set for 2 p.m. and admission is free.

The Tigers are 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the NCAC after last Saturday's 24-0 win over visiting Kenyon.

Denison is 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference after coming from behind to defeat Ohio Wesleyan, 34-31, last Saturday.

Denison leads the all-time series, 5-2, after winning last year's game in Granville by a 42-21 score.

The Big Red also took the last meeting in Greencastle by a 39-20 count in 2012. DePauw's last win in the series came in 1986 by a 20-0 score at Denison. The Big Red won the first meeting, 13-7, on November 5, 1932.

DePauw brings a 67-36-3 Old Gold Day record into the contest and has won eight of the last nine and 28 of the last 33 dating back to 1980.
