Margaret B. Nelson, 93, of Greencastle, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014.

Margaret was born on Feb. 1, 1921 in Fillmore to Clyde Cecil Bunten and Mary Alpha Storm Bunten.

She was a 1939 graduate of Fillmore High School. During her senior year, she was the State Baptist Speech Contest Winner in Evansville.

Margaret married William A. "Doc" Nelson, and he preceded her in death.

She was a member of Brick Chapel United Methodist Church, Merry Jills Home Extension Club, History Round Table Club, D.A.R. member and officer, past president of the Putnam County Home Extension Club and the Noon Euchre Club.

Margaret has been employed at Prevo's and served as house mom at Kappa Alpha Theta for 13 years.

She had volunteered as a Pink Lady at Putnam County Hospital, and served on the Putnam County Election Board for several years.

Most importantly, Margaret was an "active" mom to her four daughters. She enjoyed traveling to Spain, England, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and had traveled most of the continental United States.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Don Bunten, Henry Bunten, Marion Bunten and Fred E. Bunten; and a dear friend, Claude Boswell.

Surviving are her daughters, Nancy Baumgart and husband, Dr. Ronald, of Estero, Fla., Carole Wright and husband Ned, of Plainfield, Linda Mann and husband Fred, of Cloverdale, and Marcia Whaley and husband Dan, of Mooresville; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17 at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with Rev. Paul Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
