PCH offering skin cancer screenings Wednesday

Friday, October 17, 2014

On Wednesday, Oct. 22, Dr. John Stephens of Dermatology Inc. will be conducting free skin cancer screens at Putnam County Hospital.

The screen is a biannual event sponsored by the Putnam County Hospital Cancer Center.

"Early detection is the key to treating melanoma," Sarah Barnes, Cancer Center RN, said.

"We offer the free screen to encourage more people to take an interest in their health and to protect themselves from cancer," she added.

The screenings will be conducted by appointment only. To schedule a skin cancer screen, persons may contact the Cancer Center at 655-2581.

The screens will take place from 3-5 p.m. Oct. 22 in the first-floor clinic at the hospital.
