D. Dale Pitts

D. Dale Pitts, 82, of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014.

He was born on Nov. 16, 1931 in Putnam County to Donald F. Pitts and Helen C. Cooper Pitts.

Dale was a 1949 graduate of Greencastle High School, and served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War.

He attended Indiana University School of Business and retired from IBM in 1987. He also attended Limedale Baptist Church and more recently, Abundant Life Baptist Church.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Colleen Clearwaters, Wanita "Bunny" Hathaway-Young and Barbara Green; and an infant daughter, Kathy S. Pitts.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Evelyn E. Saylor Pitts, whom he married on May 11, 1956; two children, Tracy L. Pitts and wife Lisa of Greencastle and Lori S. Patrick and husband Jim of Greencastle; a brother, Paul M. Pitts and wife Jo Ann of Greencastle; four grandchildren, Angela N. Freimanis and husband Tyler of Camby, Danielle P. Arnold of Plainfield, Jordan E. Arnold of Plainfield and Justin N. Pitts of Greencastle; and one great-granddaughter, Lilli Phillips.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. at Bittles & Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle. Interment with Honors will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Oct. 21 from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dale's great joy in life was spending time with his family and attending the grandchildren's events.

His memory may be honored with a memorial to the Alzheimer's Association, 50 East 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
