Everett Eugene 'Bill' Gowin

Everett Eugene (Bill) Gowin, 90, of Ladoga, passed away Monday morning, Oct. 20, 2014 at Franciscan St. Elizabeth Hospital.

He was born Aug. 27, 1924 at New Maysville to Edgar and Sarah Emmaline Eggers Gowin.

Bill was a former member of the Moose Lodge and a member of the Pioneer Tractor Association of Montgomery County.

He began his working career at the Monon Railroad and Allison Division of General Motors. He then went to work for California Pellet Mill where he worked for 36 years. After retiring from there he worked for Town & Country Home Center for 15 years.

He married Mary Sorrels Zachary in July 1966, and she preceded him in death Jan. 13, 1994.

He is survived by his children, Patricia (Bud) Lady of Greencastle, Linda (Thomas) Burger of Greencastle, Bonnie (Kenneth) Dedic of Iowa, Jim Zachary of Darlington, Annette (Don) Richardson of Crawfordsville, daughter-in-law Priscilla Zachary of Crawfordsville, Mark (Rhonda) Zachary of Ladoga, Laura (Phil) Dossett of Crawfordsville, and a son-in-law, Ed Posthauer of Ladoga, 32 grandchildren, 82 great-grandchildren and 29 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by a daughter, Sharon Posthauer, and a son, David Zachary. Also preceding him were four brothers, a half-brother, three sisters and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 at Servies and Morgan Funeral Home, Ladoga. Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Thursday.

Burial will be at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery following services. Rev. Randy McNeely will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County.
