Halloween camping event to be held Oct. 25 at Raccoon

Putnam County residents are invited to join the Raccoon State Recreation Area in celebrating its 21st annual Halloween Camping Weekend on Saturday, Oct. 25.

Planned activities include:

-- 10 a.m.: Raccowl egg hunt.

-- Noon to 2 p.m.: Creepy craftings (face painting and Halloween crafts).

-- 3 p.m.: Judging for costume and pet costume contests; categories are best dressed, most original, scariest and best pet; age groups are 5 and younger, 6 -- 11, 12 to adult.

-- 5 to 7 p.m.: Trick-or-treating in the campground (open to the public).

-- 5 p.m.: Judging for scarecrow and campsite decoration contests.

-- 7 to 8:15 p.m.: Awards ceremony.

-- 8 to 10 p.m.: Hayrides, $2 per person.

Visitors do not have to camp to participate in any activities. All activities are free except for hayrides. Donations will be accepted.

The standard entrance fees of $5 per in-state vehicle and $7 per out-of-state vehicle will be charged.
