The Covered Bridge Harmony barbershop chorus recently earned the right to compete in Harmony International's competition in Louisville next month.

The international competition will host choruses from across the U.S. and Canada.

Covered Bridge Harmony, formally known as Covered Bridge Country Chorus, competed last June in the Area 4 competition, earning a score which allows it to go on to the international competition in Louisville.

"We are really happy to be headed down to Louisville," Kathy Custis, current president of the chorus, said. "Some years we have had to travel long distances to get to the international competition. I think the farthest was to St. John, New Brunswick, in Canada, and that trip took 28 hours on a bus. The drive to Louisville will be a piece of cake."

The chorus has only a few more rehearsals before the competition and is hard at work perfecting its performance package.

Each of the competing choruses will perform two songs, usually a ballad and then an up-tune.

Covered Bridge Harmony is also looking forward to December and its Christmas show on Monday, Dec. 15. The show will begin at 7 p.m. at the Greencastle Presbyterian Church with guest performers to be announced later.
