Community open house to help girl's wish come true

Thursday, October 30, 2014

A community open house and party to support a local girl struggling with illness is planned for Saturday at Lifebuilder Community Church.

Alexis Stringer is a four-year-old with a condition requiring her to have surgery every four to six weeks in order to keep her airway open. In order to fight this permanent condition, Alexis is having her 39th surgery this month.

Through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Alexis and her mom Erin Pitt will visit Disney World in November.

Saturday's event will be a chance for the community to show this family its support. Organizer Chelle Thomas is collecting Disney items for Alexis, particularly princess stuff, owl decorations and toys, action figures, size 5-6 clothing and dress-up clothes. Likewise, she is trying to collect clothing, food and gift cards for Erin.

Anyone who would like to show their support is invited to the 7 p.m. event on Saturday.
