No races to watch at county level

In an election devoid of intrigue at the county level, certain pockets of Putnam County still have unanswered questions heading into Tuesday's general election.

No contested races exist at the county level, but it's another story the Town of Cloverdale, North Putnam and Cloverdale school boards and three townships.

Two races are on the ballot for Cloverdale Town Council. Former council president Cathy Tipton (I) is running against incumbent Coweta Patton (R) for the at-large position. Additionally, incumbent Dennis Padgett (I) is facing a challenge from Cindy Holland (R).

On the North Putnam School Board, the Floyd Township position is a race between Betsy Fouts and Ronald Spencer II. Of interest in the coming months for a different reason is the Jackson Township position, in which no candidate filed for the office.

All three open positions for the Cloverdale School Board are contested, with four candidates vying for one Cloverdale Township position. Amanda Galloway, Angela Ladd, Tim Powell and Vivian Whitaker are all seeking the seat being vacated by Brian Asbury.

Two of the three Owen County positions on the Cloverdale School Board will also be determined. Jeff Gibboney, Arvel Hinton Jr. and Daniel Duane Hoffmann are running for the Jennings Township seat currently occupied by Pamelia Hepfer. In Taylor Township, incumbent Duane Huge is being challenged by Ed Stevens.

Three township trustee races will also be contested on Tuesday, with Clyde Coulter (R) and Debra Sillery (D) in Franklin Township; Debra Robinson (R), Terry Clifford (R) and Nicole Hacker (I) in Jefferson Township; and Dale Monnett (R) and Donna McFadden (I) in Cloverdale Township.

The state level provides a bit more intrigue, as the Republican incumbents for Secretary of State, Auditor of State, Treasurer of State and District 4 U.S. Representative all face challenges.

Like his Republican Party mates at the county level, District 44 State Rep. Jim Baird is unopposed heading into Tuesday's election.

The polls are open for the election from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Floyd South: Township Fire Department.

Franklin North: Roachdale Christian Church.

Franklin South: Roachdale Christian Church.

Greencastle North: Fairgrounds Community Building (west side).

First North: Putnam County Museum.

First South: Putnam County Courthouse.

Second West: National Guard Armory.

Second East: National Guard Armory.

Third West: Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Third East: Greencastle High School.

Fourth West: Greencastle VFW.

Fourth East: Ridpath Primary School.

Foxridge: Greencastle Middle School.

Limedale: Fairgrounds Community Building (east side).

Jackson: Roachdale Christian Church.

Jefferson: Jefferson Township Fire Department.

Madison: Madison Township Fire Department.

Marion North: Fillmore Town Hall.

Marion South: Wellspring Christian Church.

Monroe East: Bainbridge Community Building.

Monroe West: Brick Chapel Methodist Church.

Russell: Russellville Community Center.

Warren: Central Elementary School.

Washington North: Reelsville Fire Department (north entrance).
