Putnam County FOP seeking donations for Santa Drop program

Thursday, November 6, 2014
Law enforcement officials from several different agencies took part in the Putnam County Fraternal Order of Police's annual Santa Drop program last year. At this time, the organization is currently seeking donations, which help make the program, which provides area children with a number of much-needed items during the holiday season.

The Putnam County Fraternal Order of Police is once again gearing up to help the children in the county have a Merry Christmas.

For the past 18 years the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 92 has delivered toys to children who would not have a Christmas otherwise in Putnam County through the FOP Santa Drop program. Last year was the FOP's biggest year yet, providing toys to more than 30 children. Through the Santa Drop, children not only received toys, but they received items that they needed such as coats, winter boots, hats, gloves and school supplies.

As the holiday's draw closer, the Putnam County FOP once again looking to the community for help with donations in order to keep giving to the children of Putnam County. All donations received will go toward presents for the children.

The Putnam County FOP is also accepting applications for the program, which will be thoroughly screened and sorted with the most underprivileged children at the top of the list. Applications are available for pick-up at the Greencastle Police Department during normal business hours with the deadline being Tuesday, Dec. 2.

Monetary donations can be dropped off at the Greencastle Police Department or mailed to Greencastle Police Department at 600 N. Jackson St. Greencastle, Ind. 46135. New unwrapped gifts can also be dropped off at the Greencastle Police Department.

Those seeking more information may contact Assistant Chief Brian Hopkins at 848-1539 or Darcy Hendershot at 848-1540.
