Tigers volleyball team defeats No. 7 Oberlin in NCAC Quarterfinal match

Entering the North Coast Athletic Conference tournament as the number two seed, the DePauw volleyball team is poised to make a run through the conference tournament and earn a second-straight appearance in the NCAA tournament.

The Tigers (24-9, 7-1) played No. 7-seeded Oberlin (12-17, 2-6) in their quarterfinal match, Friday night starting at 7 p.m. Top-seeded Wittenberg (24-3, 8-0) served as the tournament hosts for the ninth year in a row.

DePauw defeated Oberlin in straight sets in their regular season meeting on September 20 and DePauw came out on top again on Friday (25-16, 25-13, 25-17). Lauren Falotico led the way with nine kills while Elisabeth Wilson, Mary Kate Etling and Sarah Burtenshaw each has seven.

Coming off their first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 2000, the Tigers have put together another strong resume with hopes of returning to postseason play. DePauw is led by Rolwes who tops the conference with a .403 hitting percentage and is second with 9.72 assists per set. Elisabeth Wilson paces the conference with .96 blocks per set, adding 2.4 kills per set, while McGrath is second in the league averaging 5.28 digs per set.

DePauw will adavance to the semi-finals to play against Hiram.

The match will take place Saturday at noon. Live stats will be available for the match. Students from an NCAC institution receive free admission by presenting a valid school ID at the gate.
