Literacy Night

Thursday, November 13, 2014

Attempting to earn "literacy bucks" during Literacy night at Greencastle Middle School recently, Candace Barger (left), her son Bryce Barger, Colton Clifford and his mother Meredith Clifford work to form complex sentences using words written on more than 400 beans in Deborah Rode's classroom.

Literacy Night is an annual, themed event that fills GMS classrooms with various tasks for families to complete in hopes of earning fake money that can be used to purchase raffle tickets at the end of the night.

The event coincides with the book fair each year and changes themes annually. This year the theme was "fiesta" and next year will be "medieval."
