Area 30 to take part in Super Mileage Challenge
Area 30 Career Center is planning to enter the first-ever Putnam County team in the 2015 Super Mileage Challenge.
Since 1990, the Indiana Mathematics, Science and Technology Education Alliance (IMSTEA), a non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to improving mathematics, science and technology literacy and competency of all Hoosiers, has hosted a Super Mileage competition in the month of April at Lucas Oil Raceway.
The objective of the program is to design, build and race a high mileage vehicle. The competition is open to all high school students across Indiana
In the upcoming months, students from six different Area 30 Career Center Classes will be work on the vehicle.
Area 30's goal is to provide its students with opportunities to dream, explore, create, research, design, engineer and finally build the vehicle.
"We believe this will be a great opportunity for the community and Area 30 Career Center to work together to benefit our students," Auto Services Instructor Troy Anderson said.
The expected project budget will be approximately $6,000. Thus, Area 30 is looking to the community for financial support
