James W. Smith

James W. Smith, 79, of Roachdale, passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2014.

Born June 2, 1935 in Summer Shade, Ky., he was the son of Bryan and Ovie Della Vinson Smith.

He married Linda F. Turner on Oct. 19, 1957 in Celina, Tenn.

James worked for more than 20 years at Chevrolet Truck and Bus, retiring in 1983.

Survivors include his wife, Linda F. Smith of Roachdale; children Kathy (Randy) Lambert, James Gregory Smith (Sherri Goodwin), all of Indianapolis, Tammy (Larry) Wilson of Roachdale, and Tina Berry of Danville; sisters Evelyn Anderson of Kentucky, Joyce Anderson of Mooresville, Betty Anderson of Kentucky, Marjorie Huff of Greenwood; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

His parents, brothers Clyde and Lanos Darrel "Buck" Smith and sister Geraldine Smith preceded him in death.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with burial to follow in New Maysville Cemetery.

Calling will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28 in the funeral home.
