* At 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, Corey L. Duff, 37, Greencastle, was charged with criminal trespassing, driving on a suspended license and bond revocation.

At 5:34 a.m., Zachary Tait Allen, 21, Greencastle, was arrested for domestic battery, disorderly conduct, a probation violation and possession of paraphernalia.

City Police

Greencastle City Police officers were called to the scene of an accident in the 400 block of West Walnut Street early Monday and ended up arresting a 32-year-old Greencastle man.

Officer Matt Huffman responded to the scene on the city's West Side where a vehicle had struck a utility pole at 4:37 a.m.

Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Stephen Jarod Bridges, 32, Greencastle, a West Walnut Street resident, on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and for an outstanding warrant. He was lodged in the Putnam County Jail at 7:31 a.m. Monday.

Bridges was also cited for operating without financial responsibility.

In another recent minor accident investigated by city officers, a mishap was reported at 11:11 p.m. Friday in the parking lot behind 1 W. Franklin St. on the north side of the courthouse square.

Tammy Bontrager, 51, Greencastle, was backing her 2002 Dodge Ran from a parking space when she reportedly turned too sharply, striking a parked, unoccupied 2007 Toyota Camry, owned by Megan Nierman, Greencastle.

Officer Nick Eastham estimated total damage at $1,000-$2,500.

One recent traffic citation was issued by GPD officers.

* At 9 p.m. Saturday, Darius Boyer, 43, Greencastle, was ticketed for speeding by Officer Eastham.

Boyer was cited for 62 mph in a 40-mph zone on State Road 240 near Tennessee Street.

Sheriff's Dept.

Two recent accidents were investigated by Putnam County Sheriff's Department deputies.

* At 7 a.m. Saturday, Walter E. Wilson, 78, Greencastle was southbound on County Road 325 West from County Road 450 North.

Wilson advised Lt. Donnie Pettit that he lost control of his 2002 Buick LeSabre due to a patch of ice on the roadway and the car went off the east side of the road, striking a sign.

Damage was estimated at less than $1,000.

* At 8:08 p.m. Monday, Natasha R. Mason, 25, Putnamville, was traveling north on County Road 75 West.

Mason told Deputy Matt Biggs it felt as if her 2001 Dodge Durango had hydroplaned or slid on ice and it seemed like her steering locked up.

As Mason's vehicle left the east side of the roadway, became airborne, cart-wheeled and landed on the driver's side up against a tree.

At the time of the mishap, the road conditions were dry, authorities said.

Mason had minor lacerations to her facial area, but refused medical treatment.

Safety equipment on the vehicle was inoperational at the time of the accident, Biggs said, noting that due to a previous wreck several weeks prior, the airbags and seatbelt were not functioning.

Furthermore, the wrecker driver observed a chunk of concrete stuck in the frame of the vehicle. Biggs noted that no concrete was involved in this wreck and it was unclear the amount of damaged caused by the previous wreck.

Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.
