Adam Gerard

Adam Gerard is a senior at Greencastle High School. His parents are Bryan and Robin Gerard and he has an older brother, A.J.

He has played football (1 year), tennis (3 years) and basketball (4 years) for Greencastle.

Gerard's favorite school subjects are environmental science, advanced theater and advanced choir.

He enjoys watching "The Shawshank Redemption" and "The Green Mile" and he enjoys reading the Bible as well as "Crazy Love."

His favorite band is Creed. Juan Martin del Potro, Tim Duncan and Brett Favre are some athletes Gerard enjoys watching.

BG: How does being a senior this year compare to other years?

AG: It really goes fast. It's hard to describe how fast it goes. Everybody says it, but until you become a senior, you don't really realize it. I've been blessed to have great teammates and a great community of athletes who want to get better and want to win.

BG: What were your goals individually and as a team coming into this year?

AG: It's hard to say. We don't have a set team goal but we want to win and we want to do that no matter what it takes. For me personally, I want to get to the regional. We made the regional in tennis and didn't win, so I want to get there and win it. Also, it's on our home court, so that would be nice to see.

BG: Who are your personal inspirations?

AG: Scott Stapp, the lead singer of Creed, because of his life and what he has gone through. That makes me really feel out my life and learn how to respond to things. I also value my brother. He ignored some big college decisions and became a missionary in El Salvador.

BG: What's your favorite Greencastle memory?

AG: Holding up the sectional trophy in tennis. That and the last night of being in the musical we just put on. There are so many things about Greencastle that are so good. A lot of people are very negative about this place, but if you take a step back and look at it, there's a lot of positive stuff going on. There are great kids here who want do good things and want to win at everything they do.

BG: What's your favorite part of basketball?

AG: Definitely the coaching staff. Playing on the court is fun, but when you come off the floor, having someone there to talk to you, to tell you what you did wrong and what you need to change is important. We get to know good role models, have them coach us and off the court, they teach everyone how to be a better man.

BG: What are your future plans?

AG: I got accepted (Wednesday) by Houghton College out in western New York. I plan on playing tennis there but don't know about basketball. I also intend, most likely, to be a youth minister out in the New England area.
