Stephen Gordon 'Steve' Bruce

Stephen Gordon "Steve" Bruce, 58, of Indianapolis and formerly of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014.

Steve was born on Oct. 28, 1956 in Indianapolis to Robert and Beverly (Emery) Bruce.

He was a 1975 graduate of Greencastle High School, and attended DePauw University and Ball State University.

Steve served his country in the United States Army as a Specialist 5. He received numerous medals, including Expert M-16 Rifle, Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 1st Oak leaf Cluster, Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon.

He was the general manager of Indiana Bolt and Nut in Indianapolis for 16 years, and most recently served as a benefits specialist for Family Development Services.

Steve was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed the Indianapolis 500, NASCAR, IU, the Pacers and was the No. 1 Colts fanatic.

His father preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Kelly J. Bruce; two sons, Michael Bruce and wife Jennifer of Brownsburg, and Matthew Bruce and wife Alaina of Fishers; his mother, Beverly Bruce of Greencastle; a sister, Vicki Wallace and husband David of Springboro, Ohio; a brother, Jefferey Bruce of Evansville; three beloved grandchildren, Rachael Bruce, Ryan Bruce and Sierra Bruce; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Dec. 3 from 11 a.m.. until 1 p.m. at Hopkins--Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle.

Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Karl Sparks officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
