James S. Church

James S. Church, age 80, Coatesville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014.

He was born in Coatesville on Oct. 17, 1934, the son of Robert and Florence Mount Church.

He graduated from New Winchester High School in 1952, and was a member of the New Winchester Christian Church.

He was a Army veteran, serving from 1954 to 1956.

He had worked at Union Carbide, Speedway, and Bryant-Poff -- ProStar, Coatesville, as a supervisor in shipping and receiving, and then in purchasing.

He then worked part-time at Car-Quest, Danville, and Adessa Auction, Plainfield.

He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, spending time with his family and spending his winters in Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Jane McMullin Church, whom he married on March 14, 1958; sons David J. (Jennifer) Church, Coatesville, and Douglas Church, Greencastle; grandchildren Samantha J. Church, Colorado Springs, Colo., David D. Church, Orlando, Fla., and Mitchell Church, Coatesville; sister Martha Nichols, Coatesville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents, one brother and seven sisters.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Bousley-Hays Funeral Home, Coatesville, with visitation from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.

Burial will follow in Coatesville Cemetery.
