BAINBRIDGE -- With North Putnam Superintendent Dan Noel on a medical leave, Terry Tippin has been tapped as the interim superintendent after a 4-2 vote at the North Putnam School Corporation's (NPSC) monthly school board meeting Thursday night.

Tippin believes his close relationship and communication with Noel will make the transition into the superintendent role while Noel is on leave, fairly seamless.

"We've been working together for the whole semester and we're on the same page about things, so I think this is a real easy transition," Tippin said.

"I talk with him every day."

Tippin served as North Putnam Middle School principal from 2007 to the spring of 2014, at which point he moved to the role of director of transportation and operations.

Having left the administrative office in June 2014 to take on the transportation position, Tippin is returning as acting superintendent.

Although his new role may be temporary, Tippin is ready to fill in until Noel is healthy and ready to resume his position as superintendent.

"My goal and job is to carry on as he did and not burden him with this because he needs to heal," Tippin said.

An exact timeframe has not been announced for Noel's absence.

Regularly scheduled meetings of the North Putnam School Corporation Board of School Trustees are held at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month and are open to the public.

The next meeting is slated for Jan. 15 and will be held at the school corporation administration office located at 300 N. Washington St. in Bainbridge.

  • He couldn't run his school but he's got a superintendents license. So hey, what the heck. What's the worse that could happen?
