Abby Joan Underwood

Abby Joan Underwood, 79, Coatesville, passed away on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014.

She was born in Cherry Grove, Montgomery County, on Feb. 10, 1935, the daughter of John and Harriett LaRue Macquire Gray.

She had worked in clerical for the Indiana State Police, had worked at Mac's Men's Apparel, was the matron for the Hendricks County Jail and worked for Cindy's Hallmark in Plainfield and Mooresville.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Plainfield.

She had been a member of the Coatesville Christian Church for 10 years, and was currently a member of the New Winchester Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Thomas Underwood, whom she married on April 6, 1958; son Tim Underwood and wife Sara of Plainfield; daughter Kim Underwood of Stilesville; granddaughters Amanda, Kayla and Jenna Underwood; brothers Harvey Lee Gray of Holland, Ind., and Bill Gray of Springfield, Tenn.

She was preceded by her parents, son Terry Allison Underwood and a sister.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27 at the Bousley-Hays Funeral Home, Coatesville, with Rev. Rick Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Coatesville Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 26 from 4-8 p.m.
