TERRE HAUTE --Friday morning prior to the start of the 15th annual Pizza Hut Wabash Valley Classic, Terre Haute South High School named its court after Cloverdale head coach Pat Rady. The floor will now be known as Pat Rady Court.

Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett read a proclamation declaring Thursday, Dec. 26 as Pat Rady Day in Terre Haute. Several former players and coaches all spoke in honor of the coach. Rady entered the Classic with 744 career wins, the most among active Indiana high school coaches.

While at Terre Haute South Rady won 373 games, 10 sectionals, four regionals, three semistates and one state finals team. He also coached two future NBA players, Larry Steele at Bainbridge and Brian Evans at Terre Haute South. A number of Rady's players went on to play college basketball.

"Ever since the sixth grade all I've ever wanted to do is coach," Rady said. "When something like this happens you must credit the players, and assistant coaches. They support you through your career and are with you win or lose. I'm so proud of all my, players, coaches and especially to my wife Margaret."

Rady went on to thank his family for the support shown.

"She is and has been there with me along with Jesus, they've been my support and I'll always be grateful for that," said the emotional coach. "My two sons have been there and I'm sure they have moments when I haven't been there. Mom had to take them to the Boy Scouts and games when I couldn't. Patrick, and Michael are my boys and I love them dearly."

Cloverdale opens its Pizza Hut play in the Friday's last game against Riverton Parke at 8:30 p.m.
