Putnam poets invited to enter Max Ehrmann contest

Friday, December 26, 2014

Art Spaces Inc. and the Indiana State University Community School of the Arts have announced the 2015 Max Ehrmann Poetry Competition.

Competition is open to individuals of all ages, living, working or attending school in Putnam, Clay, Parke, Sullivan, Vermillion or Vigo counties.

Entries must be mailed or delivered by Feb. 16. Cash prizes will be awarded.

The 2015 contest theme is "This Corner of the World." Participants are urged to submit original works approaching the theme in a unique way. Up to two poems per contestant will be accepted.

Purpose of the competition is to encourage writing new poetry as a contemporary art form, to foster an interdisciplinary connection between art forms, and to honor Max Ehrmann, a renowned regional poet whose works were inspired by a love for his community, its natural surroundings and its people.

For an entry form, visit info@wabashvalleyartspaces.com or call Art Spaces (812-235-2801) or ISU Community School of the Arts (812-237-2575).

Poems and completed entry forms must be delivered or mailed to: Art Spaces Inc., 669 Ohio St., Terre Haute, IN 47807.

Winners will be announced at a spring awards ceremony hosted by Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. The date will be announced later.

Winning entries also will be displayed at Vigo County Public Library during April.
