County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23, Patricia Finley-Perry, 26, Greencastle, was charged with violation of home detention and theft.

At 10:18 a.m., Adam Gabrial Pleake, 23, Quincy, was arrested for failure to appear and neglect of a dependent.

At 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24, Cody Daniel Hart, 27, New Ross, was arrested for operating while intoxicated with a prior.

At 12 p.m., Tina Noe, 41, Cloverdale, was charged with failure to appear.

At 12:20 p.m., Chris Edward McCormick Jr., 28, Indianapolis, was charged with a probation violation.

At 7:30 p.m., Garry Dean Rigney Jr., 33, Greencastle, was arrested for a parole violation, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

* At 1:39 a.m. on Thursday, Geri Danyel Capps, 25, Greencastle, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and possession of a syringe.

* At 12:30 a.m. on Friday, Justin Taylor White, 23, Brazil, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

At 8:43 p.m., Demetrius Robert Lough, 35, Indianapolis, was arrested for theft of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana.

At 9:43 p.m., Michael Shawn Hook, 40, Greencastle, was charged with possession of marijuana.

* At 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jeremy Dale West, 38, Greencastle, was arrested for possession of a syringe and possession of a schedule IV drug.

* At 12:10 a.m. on Sunday, Joshua James Wright, 24, Greencastle, was charged with a probation violation.

* At 11 a.m. on Monday, Steven Craig Brown, 31, Poland, was arrested on a court order.

Sheriff's Dept.

* At 9:31 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23, Cory Hart, 27, Crawfordsville, was traveling on County Road 325 East near County Road 1400 North.

Hart advised Lt. Virgil Lanning that his 2004 Chrysler Pacifica traveled into the ditch, which caused him to strike his head on the steering wheel.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

* At 7:13 a.m. on Friday, Randall G. Saunders, 58, Bainbridge, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 36 near County Road 600 West.

Saunders advised Deputy Adam Hull that he lost control of his 2004 Chevrolet Colorado 4x2 on the icy roadway, which caused him to slide into a guardrail.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

At 8 a.m., Ronald J. Rose, 62, Greencastle, was traveling on U.S. 36 near County Road 775 West.

Rose advised Reserve Officer Ken Grundlock that he had been traveling westbound on U.S. 36 came up over a grade at a curve and when his 2000 Chevrolet Astro van was coming back down the grade, Rose lost control due to the black ice on the roadway surface.

Rose tried to regain control, but in doing so slid the vehicle, side to side four times, before leaving the roadway on the north side. When the vehicle left the roadway, it was in a rear facing position. The vehicle at that time went into the ditch and rolled onto the drivers side before coming to rest in an upright position.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

* At 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, James Harris, 75, Greencastle, was traveling northbound on U.S. 231 approaching County Road 200 North.

Harris advised Lt. Virgil Lanning that a deer entered the roadway from the right side and crossed in front of him. Harris noted that the deer had then attempted to cross back to the other side, which caused it to then strike the driver's side of his 2008 GM Sierra.

Damage was estimated at $1,001-$2,500.

At 8:03 a.m., Henry R. Kirkman, 74, Greencastle, was traveling eastbound on State Road 240 near County Road 400 East.

Kirkman advised Reserve officer Rick Lambert that he observed a small deer crossing the road and was unable to avoid striking it with his 2013 Nissan A2S, which caused extensive front end damage.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has performed five lift assists, two medical assists and has responded to one dispatch recently.

* At 12:11 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, GFD was called to 12 S. Indiana St. for a carbon monoxide investigation. Upon arrival, nothing was found and the alarm was found to have been triggered by bad batteries.

* At 1:17 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, GFD responded to a minor gas spill in the Kroger parking lot at 821 Indianapolis Rd. Upon arrival, GFD cleaned the five gallons of gasoline.
