County Jail

Several people were booked into the Putnam County Jail recently.

* At 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Matthew Joseph Lowery, 22, Crawfordsville, was arrested for criminal confinement of an adult, strangulation, domestic battery and invasion of privacy.

At 8:45 p.m., Donald Glen Bishop Jr., 29, Fillmore, was charged with resisting law enforcement and being a habitual traffic violator.

At 8:54 p.m., Crystal Fogarty, 32, Card, Mich., was arrested for failure to appear.

At 9:15 p.m., Edward William Nail, 43, Greencastle, was charged with disorderly conduct.

* At 1:02 a.m. on Wednesday, Keith Alan Lyon, 37, Reelsville, was arrested for battery.

City Police

One recent shoplifting case is under investigation by Greencastle City Police officers.

William Clements, 19, Greencastle, was arrested for theft at 4:35 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26 at the Walmart store on

Indianapolis Road.

Assistant Chief Brian Hopkins reported that Clements took three iPhone chargers and a bottle of Tide detergent without paying.

The items in question were valued at $53.37.

Clements was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

In another recent incident at Walmart, Assistant Chief Hopkins was called to the store at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27 to investigate a trespassing complaint.

Taren Proctor, 26, Greencastle, will be summoned into court for criminal trespassing as a result of the incident.

Meanwhile, following a traffic stop at the Big Walnut Sports Park on Greencastle's East Side, Nathaniel Woolums, 19, Greencastle, is facing charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Woolums was stopped at 10:51 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27 by GPD Officer Eric Vaughan.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department has performed two lift assists, two medical assists and have responded to numerous dispatches recently.

* At 9:09 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29 and at 7:24 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, GFD conducted air monitoring at 1 N. Indiana St. for a carbon monoxide incident. GFD evacauted the building and contacted the gas company for both incidents.

* At 7:08 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, GFD was called to the Fillmore Volunteer Fire Department while FVFD responded to a motor vehicle accident at 5340 E. SR 240.

* At 9:10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, GFD was called to 110 E. Larabie St. for a fire alarm due to smoking.
