A mid-morning traffic accident Friday sent a Cloverdale woman to the hospital and briefly diverted traffic at one of Greencastle's busiest intersections.

At 10:18 a.m., Greencastle Police were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash at the Y-intersection where Washington and Wood streets and Indianapolis Road converge.

Investigating Officer Albert Epple said Vicki L. Patterson, 50, Cloverdale, was westbound on Indianapolis Road in a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu, turning left onto southbound Wood Street.

She attempted the turn not noticing the 2006 Dodge Caravan driven eastbound on Washington Street by Nicki M. Davis, 28, Greencastle.

As Davis entered the intersection, Patterson continued her turn, striking the minivan just behind the left front tire with her left front bumper.

Patterson was taken to Putnam County Hospital by Operation Life with a complaint of pain. No one in the Davis vehicle was injured.

The Greencastle Fire Department also responded to the scene, providing traffic control, lift assistance and clean-up.

Epple was also assisted at the scene by Officer Jeff Modlin.
