Peace Lutheran Church to install new pastor Jan. 18

Friday, January 9, 2015
Rev. Matthew Schneider

Reverend Matthew L. Schneider will become the new pastor of Peace Lutheran Church, located at 1421 S. Bloomington St., Greencastle, at a special installation service to be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18.

A reception for Pastor Schneider and his family will follow the installation service. The public is invited.

Pastor Schneider will replace Pastor John Kolb, who has been the intentional interim pastor for Peace since Pastor Alan Barber's retirement at the end of 2013.

Pastor Schneider was born and baptized in Peoria, Ill., in 1980. He graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2002 with the degree of Bachelor of Music Education, and it was at Wesleyan that he met his wife Robin as her accompanying pianist.

He taught junior and senior high school choral music for one year before pursuing a master's degree in choral conducting at the University of California, Irvine.

In the course of working toward the master's degree it became clear that God had other plans in store for him and he entered Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in 2005.

Upon graduation, he received his first call as associate pastor to Pacific Hills Lutheran in Omaha, Neb., in 2009.

Peace Lutheran Church is blessed to have Pastor Schneider continue his ministry in the Greencastle Putnam County area.

He brings a passion for youth and campus ministry, a love for all of God's children and the desire to share the good news about our savior Jesus with everyone.
