Back Inn Town

Friday, January 9, 2015
Former DePauw student David McMillin returned to Greencastle Friday night, performing to a packed house at the Inn at DePauw. The crowd was as diverse as McMillin's musical influences, sounding like a cross between the folksiness of John Prine and the southern rock of The Black Crowes, McMillin wailed to children and adults alike while shifting from guitar to keyboards. McMillin had no problems holding the crowd's attention as a one man show, but called opening act Gus Moon and bassist Dennis Furr, as well as a few audience members, on stage to perform the Bob Dylan anthem "I Shall Be Released," as the final song of the evening. McMillan also coaxed Chris Wurster and John Bean onstage to perform the song, reciting both verse and chorus with the band as the night drew to a close. (Photo by KYLE HOLLINGER)
