Featured Athlete of the Week: Blaine Pitts, Swimming South Putnam High School

Blaine Pitts

Blaine Pitts was born on June 30, 1996 to Steve and Tina Pitts. He has a sister, Jordan.

He's participated in swimming for three years and has been involved with Spanish Club (three years) and FCA (three years).

Pitts enjoys watching "Hell on Wheels," enjoys reading "Harris and Me" and enjoys listening to country and classic rock, particularly Bruce Springsteen, while his favorite school subject is history.

Banner Graphic: What is it like being a senior this year, compared to previous years?

Blaine Pitts: "I feel like I have a lot more responsibility because it's the last year and I don't want to be slacking off or anything."

BG: What did you do for off-season training?

BP: "I started lifting weights over the summer and at the beginning of the school year I ran a little bit."

BG: What were your individual and team goals for this season?

BP: Individually I wanted to make a relay team and other than that, I wanted to be in better shape. As a team, we wanted to have a winning record.

BG: Who is or are your personal inspirations?

BP: "My dad is a pretty big inspiration and also my friends, both on and off the swim team.

BG: Who are your best friends?

BP: "My two best friends on the swim team are Zane Crosby and Zach Rayce, while ,my two best friends not on the swim team are Chad Menke and Aaron Cole."

BG: What is your favorite part of swimming?

BP: "At the beginning of the year, I would have said something different, but now I would say the competition."

BG: What are your future plans?

BP: "Go to college and get a career. I'd like to attend Vincennes University and study law enforcement."
