Tuesday, January 20, 2015

The Putnam County Community Foundation has announced that Steve Zimmerman of Spectrum Nonprofits will be the first speaker for the 2015 Nonprofit Learning Series.

On Feb. 3, Zimmerman will present a workshop titled "Planning for the Future: Sustainable Nonprofits" at the Crawfordsville Country Club from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It includes a catered lunch and training materials.

The cost to attend the workshop is $25, or $15 if registered and paid by Jan. 27.

The workshop is the first session of the 2015 Non-Profit Learning Series, which is geared toward community leaders who staff or volunteer with non-profit organizations, churches and units of government who wish to build their knowledge and skills in areas of governance, fundraising, finances, marketing and more.

"Many people do not realize how much our communities depend upon volunteer leaders," Putnam County Community Foundation Executive Director Elaine Peck said. "Successful communities have strong nonprofit leaders who have the tools and information and support they need to accomplish their missions."

Brought to Greencastle by the Putnam County and the Montgomery County community foundations, the Non-Profit Learning Series consists of eight workshops.

The first four workshops (February - May) will be conducted in Montgomery County at the Crawfordsville Country Club. The final four (August - November) will be at the Inn at DePauw in Greencastle.

The cost to attend all eight workshops is $100 if registered and paid by Jan. 27.

The remainder of the schedule for the 2015 Non-Profit Learning Series is:

-- March 3 -- "Board Orientation and Engagement" with Susan Decker.

-- April 7 -- "Outcomes: Telling Your Story with Results" with June Miller.
