Banner Graphic: What is it like being a senior this year, compared to previous years?

Kristen Stevens: It's kind of hit me that this is my last year and I need to actually make an impact and try as hard as I can.

BG: What did you do for off-season training?

KS: I've had an injured shoulder, so it's been harder, but I've tried harder in practice. I also swam with a fall club swim team, so that helped a lot.

BG: What were your individual and team goals for this season?

KS: My individual goal was to break :30 in the 50 free, which I did, and I wanted to PR in the 100 backstroke, which I did that again too.

Our team wanted to do well in sectionals and conference. Hopefully we'll get that.

BG: Who is or are your personal inspirations?

KS: My inspiration is my older brother Nick because he was a swimmer in high school and he did really well. He swam for Ball State and he's now a swim coach, so I really look up to him and all his hard work.

BG: Who are your best friends?

KS: My best friend is Ashley Land, because we've been friends forever, and I've also gotten close to Mallary Meyer, who's on the team. We both swim backstroke, she's always encouraged me and just been great.

BG: What is your favorite Greencastle memory?

KS: Back-of-the-bus bus rides.

BG: What is your favorite part of swimming?

KS: The family feeling that our team has. We're always encouraging each other and I absolutely love it.

BG: What are your future plans?

KS: I want to go to Purdue University to get a major in agriculture-business.
