Norman Keith 'Tommy' Thompson

Norman Keith "Tommy"Thompson, 86, a resident of VanBibber Lake for more than 40 years, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015 at Hendricks Regional Health Hospital after a long battle with several illnesses.

Born May 27, 1928 in Indianapolis, the son of Berlin and Pearl (Mattox) Thompson, he was a graduate of Tech High School.

He married Patty M. (Nevins) Thompson on Nov. 9, 1995.

Tommy was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with family and friends at the lake.

He was also a General Motors employee for 30 years.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene and Kenneth Thompson; a daughter, Debra Sue Handy; and a son, Tommy Kieth Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Patty Thompson; five daughters, Jackie Howard of Brownsburg, Diana and Harley Johnson, Norma Jean and Charles Williams, Cathy Ann Hankins, and Kimberly Lee Wagers, all of Indianapolis; a sister, Joy Myers; a brother, Charles (Sonnie) Thompson; five stepchildren, Lora and Jerry Lawson of Fontanet, Nelda and Lily Frazier of VanBibber Lake, Larry and Marla Frazier of Terre Haute, John Frazier of Indianapolis, and Danny and Lori Nevins of Terre Haute; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, with interment to follow at Clinton Falls Cemetery. Pastor Danny Nevins will officiate.

The family will receive family and friends, to share in the memories of Tommy, from noon until time of service on Friday, Jan. 30 at the funeral home.
