Bruins get best of Eagles

LIZTON -- On Tuesday, the South Putnam high school girls' basketball team traveled to Tri-West to play the Bruins. Turnovers played a part in the game, according to Eagle coach Tim Garver, and contributed to the 60-41 South Putnam loss.

"We didn't exactly play the best," Eagle coach Tim Garver said. "We got into some foul trouble. We were turning the ball over. I thought our big girls played well inside. They went on a roll and hit some shots. It was at half it was 24-17. At that point it's really a pretty good game."

The Eagles took advantage of their offensive opportunities, scoring double figures in the last three quarters, but we're unable to stem the points of the Bruins.

"Katie Hewitt had a really good game for us," Garver said. "She had 18 points. We've really been working with her to try and get her more productive. Tonight she had a good game. Miranda Bieghler had eight.

"The positive is that we played a good first half against a good team. Second half we got into foul trouble and turned the ball over."
