Girls' hoops pairings announced

The IHSAA held its sectional draw Sunday to determine the match-ups in next week's sectionals.

In the 3A Greencastle bracket, the host school drew a bye and on Feb. 13 will play the winner of Beech Grove and Danville.

The Tiger Cubs had a tough time with their sectional match-ups this season. They lost to Beech Grove on Nov. 15 50-32 and they lost to Danville 63-41 in early December.

Greencastle's 14-7 record is third best in the sectional. Indian Creek, which plays Tri-West, has the best record at 15-3 but is only 1-0 against sectional teams.

In the South Putnam sectional, the host team will play Speedway on Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. The winner of that game will face Cloverdale.

Speedway is 1-3 in sectional play and its only win came against North Putnam. Cloverdale and South Putnam have played twice this season and each time the Eagles came up with a three-point victory. The Eagles have a record of 10-10 while Cloverdale's record is 7-13

North Putnam has a record of 4-15 and will play Covenant Christian on Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. The 16-5 record of Covenant Christian is tops in the sectional. The Warriors are also 4-0 in sectional match-ups, also beating Monrovia, Speedway and South Putnam.
