Ardith Ann 'Artie' Hughes

Ardith "Artie" Hughes , 77, of Reelsville, lost her battle with COPD and lung cancer on Monday, Feb. 9, 2015 with her family by her side.

She was born on April 4, 1937 to Robert E. Smith and Lucille (White) Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald R. Hughes and her children, Dee (Randy) Cundiff of Plainfield, Sheila (Tony) Toland of West Virginia, Don (Carol) Hughes of Fishers and Ron (Andrea) Hughes of Plainfield.

She was the loving grandmother of seven, great-grandmother of 13 and great-great-grandmother of three.

Her favorite pastimes in life were playing bingo and watching her grandbabies play baseball.

The family extends a special thank you to the hospice team at Kindred at Home and Albertson's Mortuary "for the very compassionate care you took with our angel."

A celebration of life is planned for noon-5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21 at Lifebuilder Community Church Life Center, 703 E. Washington St., Greencastle.

Friends are invited to come help the family celebrate Artie's life.
