Danville wins Greencastle sectional

Having split their two meetings in the regular season 1-1, Danville and Tri-West met in the IHSAA Girls' Basketball Class 3A Sectional No. 27 final looking to win the series and claim a sectional crown.

Trailing by four at the break, the Warriors utilized a 17-0 run to start the second half and hit 14-of-17 free throws in the final quarter to win the sectional 57-48 over the Bruins.

After combining to knockdown 19 threes the previous night, the Hendricks County rivals only hit a combined seven threes Saturday night, initially to Tri-West's benefit.

The Warriors made their move to start the second half, upping the tempo of the game to score 17-straight points to start the second half.

Tri-West scored the final seven points of the quarter to cut the deficit to 36-30 but never came closer than five points in the final quarter as Danville won their first sectional title since 1987.
