Spring Horizons of Putnam County classes to begin soon

Monday, February 16, 2015

Horizons of Putnam County's spring lineup of "community education taught by the community" begins the week of March 1, and runs the gamut from yoga to zendoodling.

Founded as a non-profit in 1996 to offer "an adventure in lifelong education," Horizons provides a variety of classes twice a year taught in non-traditional formats.

Instructors are from all areas of the county and each brings his or her unique knowledge, perspective and enthusiasm to their students.

Courses are offered each fall and spring and they vary in length from one-day sessions to a more typical one-session-per-week format. Locations for the classes are selected by the instructors.

There are seven options to choose from

this spring:

* "Embroidery -- A Lost Art" with Barbara South at the Putnam County Public Library.

* "Introduction to Yoga" led by Marla Helton at Serendipity Yoga Studio.

* "Let's Have Fun in French" taught by Midori Kawaue at DePauw's Roy O. West Library.

* "Zendoodle Basics" with Rachel Smith, location to be announced.

* "Songwriting Basics" explained by Ron Dye and Chris Wurster, location to be announced.

* "Beginning Watercolor" with Jessie Scott at the Putnam County Public Library.
