Greencastle vocalists and pianists excel at state competition

On Saturday, Feb. 21, Greencastle High School vocalists and pianists competed at the Indiana State School Music Association State Solo Ensemble Contest at Perry Meridian High School.

In order to compete, all performers had to have already earned a Gold Award in Group I District competition. That competition was staged Feb. 7 at Terre Haute North Vigo High School.

Earning a Silver Award at state competition was Samantha Haynes, vocal solo.

Earning Gold Awards were: Cheyanna Strube, vocal solo; Hannah Brattain, vocal solo; Adam Gerard, vocal solo; Lindsey Bridgewater, vocal solo; Zach Wilkerson, vocal solo; Reilly Anderson, vocal solo; Joey Fields, vocal solo; Alex Pare', vocal solo; Justice Honey, vocal solo; Shelby Paxton, vocal solo; Bailey Hudson, vocal solo; Logan Beck, vocal solo; Alex Briones, vocal solo; Kayla Lee, vocal solo; Sharla Potter, vocal solo; Elijah Brattain, vocal solo; Alex Briones, Logan Beck, Joey Fields, Adam Gerard, Barbershop Quartet; Hannah Brattain, Kendra Sutherlin, Bailey Hudson, Lily Spencer, Michaela Semak, vocal ensemble; Kayla Lee, Samantha Haynes, Bailey Lausee, Emma Thomas, Cheyenne Stevens, vocal ensemble, Taylor Secrest, piano solo; Katie Rose Parsons, piano solo; Amy Gong, piano solo; Nicolas Seaman, piano solo, Simon Foss, piano solo.

Taylor Secrest, Amy Gong and Simon Foss are piano students of Maureen Carkeek. Katie Rose Parsons is a piano student of Amy Tharp. Nicolas Seaman is a piano student of Darcy McCoy.

Greencastle vocalists perform under the direction of Debby Lambert. Mrs. Lambert would also like to thank Barbara Pare' of DePauw University for the teaching and vocal coaching involved in helping students prepare for competition.
